the black mist... (KS bones #1)

first of my reaper bones painted up!

bare plastic

base colours

drybrushed, washes, detailed

Reaper bones have arrived!!!

After the long wait, the bones have finally arrived!

Happy to say everything that was ordered has arrived, so much plastic, it is epic value for money, glad I didn't miss out on it!

The plan is to do at least one bones mini per week on average, possibly more if I can....

Werewolves. Mantic, Kings of War

more mantic werewolves.

they may not be as well painted as those on the mantic website. but hey, I'm not trying to shoehorn them into an army list because I couldn't be bothered writing a good wargame....(hint, in any fantasy game/novel I have ever read, werewolves have NEVER EVER been undead or allied with undead forces...), what the hey, at least they don't appear in 'duffball' (as yet...)

KoW Elohi angel warrior & Werewolf

Another couple of my Mantic KoW minis assembled and painted up

am thinking the wings need a brown wash, then another white drybrush, might look better with the wing/feather detail picked out more?

only one WW painted so far, might do the other 2 in different colours

Spineless elf!

Have just received my models from the Kings of War kickstarter by Mantic games.
I quite like most of the minis that have arrived, but am a bit disappointed by the elven palace guard.

On opening the plastic bag with it in, the main miniature itself is cast very differently than the metal versions previously available. I was expecting to see a miniature with a main body, weapon options and a cloak to attach to the back.

previous metal versions

what I got instead was:-

one of the great things about mantic minis (as well as good prices!) is the ability to customise and alter their minis. unfortunately the options are very limited with these models. I assembled it and it looks ok with a simple paint job, but I think mantic could have done a lot better considering these are meant to be the elites of the elven army!

paint storage

since I started up painting again a few years ago I had been using a shoebox for storage. initially it was fine but as I acquired more and more paints it was becoming harder and harder to find the paint I was looking for. was in homebase and picked up a plastic tool box, my paints only just fit in it but its a lot better. I can now group them by colours for easy access, also they are a lot more portable.
