Be prepared

Assembled a SM scout squad I got from my good fiend 'painter John'. Magnetised the missile launcher torso so it can be swapped out for one with a sniper rifle.

Terminator captain WIP

started an old terminator captain mini, quite old and in a static pose, but I think he will look quite imposing on the tabletop

Stuck on you

My first attempt at magnetising parts for miniatures. A bit fiddly at first but once you get used to it and take the time to check the polarity before gluing each time, its well worth it.
I had several spares from a terminator assault squad, and combined with a few bits from ebay I will have (once painted) a lot more options for fielding the minis.

Next up its the weapon options for the centurions.

on the edge...

been practising edge highlighting, had a few pointers from my good friend 'painter John'. I need to keep the highlights about 1mm in width, and if they are too wide its easier to bring the other colour back up over the highlight

Instead of the usual metal & black wash for the flexible part in the join, instead used a black base colour and then picked out the raised parts with a mid grey. It looks different from my usual method, and really stands out (another tip from painter John!)

Deadzone enforcer WIP's

Started painting my Deadzone enforcers, given the previous enforcer experiment I haven't done any weapon swaps or added any shoulder pads.

Have done them in a blue to match with my 40K ultramarines, with red edging on the shoulder pads to fit in with the 'look' of the marines but still look different enough that they be easily distinguished.

Still some detailing and tidying up required, but I think they came out looking ok!

mantic enforcer experiment

Got a few mantic enforcers in my deadzone kickstarter, have been wondering about using them in 40K, and how compatible the bits would be. simply adding marine shoulder pads to the enforcer shows the difference

Was thinking of swapping the weapon for a bolter, but I think that would look completely oversized

I think I'll paint some up as ultramarines, and use them as honour guard or sternguard veterans, as they look different enough to stand out from the rest of the army without being covered in purity scrolls and other gubbins

more deadzone scenery

put together a few more bits. lets me make a small outpost, just need an entry/exit gate and straight walls to allow it to be expanded in the middle bits

Deadzone scenery

put together some of the scenery from Mantic's Deadzone. Easy to assemble once you get used to the connectors. All the parts are modular and based on 3" squares or rectangles so there are never any issues about parts mis-aligning. A couple of observation towers and some corners with parapets were easy to assemble. The difficult part is coming up with interesting structures to make!

I am going to need more connectors though, had quite a few parts left over and a lot less connectors than needed.
