Stormraven interior

Got the interior painted before assembling. Lots of detail on the interior, but very little of it is going to be visible when its assembled, so only a quick job on it.

The ultramarine symbols hide some small neodymium magnets which will hold the hurricane bolter sponsons on to allow them to an optional extra..

Unfortunately the rear hatch had to be glued in place, as it doesn't have the same hinge fitting as the front hatch, given the attention to detail on the rest of the model its the only minor niggle I have with the kit.

used the flash on this last photo, its very dark when sealed up

40K converted stormtalon

Finished assembly of my second stormtalon. Wasn't happy with the stubby wings on the original or the overall look really, so after some internet searches and acquiring some parts I set about it with the razor saw, cutters, magnets and green stuff...

Chopped down a couple of drop pod struts to make the 'wings', inverted the engine blocks, removed the 'undertail' and fitted it on top, mounted the weapon pods under the wings and magnetised the las-cannons & missiles launcher, reduced the bulk of the assault cannon mount.

Need to get some smaller missile launchers for my painted one, they were ok when it was by itself, but put next to the modified talon they look even more oversize than they are.

Next on the table is the stormraven!

scenery progress - base coat & basing done

Got some basic grey on my scenery as well as some basing, made from a mix of aquarium sand and bird grit, then airbrushed some light and dark brown in patches to give some variety.

The crates/barrels still need to be done, as well as detailing the rebar sticking out of the broken walls, but they are definitely tabletop ready.

Blood Angels vehicles

Painted up some vehicles for my friend James, they were definitely 'fixer uppers' as I'm told they were bargains from ebay. They were in various stages of assembly and paint, but after some biostrip20, some pinning and a few magnets they are back in shape for the battlefield.

Might do a bit more detailing and maybe a few transfers tomorrow.

40K scenery using Mantic battlezone sets

Took some time and assembled some of the scenery I got from the Deadzone kickstarter I backed.
The kits are good, very flexible in what you can build from them as long as its based around 3" cubes/squares which I don't mind as its a fair compromise between usability and modularity.

I still have a landing pad to assemble, think I might magnetise the support legs for ease of packing/storing it. Also I still have a few of the fortification pieces left so still more can be eked out of the kits.

Space marine miniatures shown in some of the pictures are for scale only.

New display cabinet for miniatures

My original cabinet was getting a little overfull, so after a quick trip to Ikea another one was obtained for the bargain price of £40. Unfortunately they are no longer selling them in the wood colour only black or white, so I went with white to match the wall behind it. They have also stopped selling the previous light so instead I got their new LED lighting kit (£20), which comes with 4 lights that can be controlled from one switch, and is really easy to connect and use.

Assembly of the cabinet wasn't too bad by myself, but it would definitely be easier with 2 people.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced display cabinet, the Ikea Detolf is well worth getting hold of.
