A writeup of Monday nights Star Wars Saga edition rpg session.
The campaign picks up after quite a long break, in universe it ran from about 5 years before the start of the clone wars, and ended a few months after order 66. The characters started out doing odd jobs and involved in minor issues, before eventually becoming jedi knights & generals in the Grand Army of the Republic, but these are all tales for another time....
the Dark times, episode 1.
The cast:-
Darjan: Human force adept (Tony)
Kel Orta: Kel Dor jedi knight (Kev)
Cyrus: human jedi knight (Dave)
Sai Rye: human soldier (Chris)

Along time ago, in a galaxy far
far away....
It has been 2 years since the
betrayal of the Jedi order, darkness has
descended on the galaxy. Emperor
Palpatine grows more powerful
every day, bringing his own brand of peace and
order to the galaxy...
On the Outer rim, aboard a
marauder corvette belonging to the Blazing Chain raiders, victims of their
latest attack are being brought into the hangar bay to be relieved of their
valuables. The converted freighter they were travelling in waits outside,
dwarfed by the corvette.
Among the passengers are Darjan
and Sai Rye. Also in the hangar bay is a small scout ship, which was being
piloted by Kel Orta.
As the raider’s apparent leader
comes in, Darjan and Kel Orta recognise him as Cyrus. Cyrus and Kel Orta have a
flash of insight from the force, and find there is something familiar about Sai
Rye. All three recognise him as a clone trooper, having served in the Clone
wars themselves.
Cyrus takes the Darjan, Kel Orta
and Sai Rye to a meeting room, whilst the passengers are stowed in cabins and
storerooms whilst their ship is dealt with. Cyrus explains he has been with the
raiders for the past 5-6 months, and that they are not as bad as they seem,
unlike normal pirates they don’t murder or torture their victims. Instead the
raiders take what they want, then put the passengers back on their ship with
only the backup hyperdrive working so they can limp back to port.
Whilst the 4 are chatting, the
corvette is rocked by an explosion from the engineering section, they dash to
investigate only to discover that the main and backup hyperdrive have exploded.
As they investigate it becomes clear that both drives have been sabotaged. They
signal the captain to start securing the ship. As Sai Rye is working on the
computer system they receive a message that a transmission is being sent from
the secondary comms system. Darjan and Cyrus sprint through the ship as Kel
Orta and Sai Rye start sealing bulkheads aboard the ship. As Darjan and Cyrus
arrive in the comms room they see the operator dead, neck broken, the message
sent gives the position of the ship. As they stand and ponder, they realise
that the saboteur is probably using the air ducts to get around the ship,
bypassing the bulkheads. Checking the transmission, it gave the ships current co-ordinates,
allowing anyone to find them.
A search of the ship starts to
get organised, as well as asking the captain if any of her crew are disgruntled
or have been acting suspiciously lately. Also they start to think about
salvaging the hyperdrive from the passenger ship sat outside. Unfortunately as
they are thinking, they hear the low bass sound and vibration of one of the
turbolasers firing. Again Darjan and Cyrus sprint through the ship towards the
turrets, just catching sight of a foot running round a corner. Calling on the
force they both surge forward, knocking the saboteur to the ground whilst Cyrus
knocks him out. Looking outside the passenger freighter can be seen listing,
its entire engine section destroyed by the turbolaser blasts.
The saboteur
awakes to find himself bound to a chair with 4 unhappy people around him. Sai
Rye tries to intimidate him, but he is too tough for that. Instead Darjan uses
a jedi mind trick to get him to talk, learning that the Empire had been taking
an interest in the raiders, and that the Venator destroyer Achilles is less
than 2 hours away.
In discussion
with the captain, Kel Orta suggests that some of the crew escape in the scout
ship, whilst the crew tries to mingle in with the captured passengers, and when
the corvette gets taken aboard the Achilles the 4 of them will be in vac suits
on the hull, to sneak aboard the destroyer, free the captured corvette crew and
then escape in shuttles.
They
manage to avoid detection, and sneak into the air ducts as the corvette is
tractor beamed into the dorsal hangar bay. The team makes its way to secondary
engineering via a trooper barracks, stealing a couple of sets of clone trooper
armour, and using the ‘prisoner transfer’ trick to bluff their way through. Sai
Rye manages to rig the computers to overload main power in 30 minutes. Next
they head to the detention blocks, getting the drop on the officers and
troopers there, overriding the security locks and releasing the captured raider
crew.
Heading
to the hangar bay, they manage to avoid or deal with anyone they come across.
Timing their arrival to coincide with the power overload, they all dash forward
in the confusion, knocking troopers and deck hands aside. 4 Shuttles are
commandeered, overriding the upper hangar doors, despite the efforts of the
destroyer crew to reclose them. As the shuttles go full throttle to escape, the
turbolasers open up, shuttles take glancing hits and one of them is disable,
the other three jump to hyperspace....
Ten
days later, the shuttles revert back to realspace above Tatooine. The Captain
of the Blazing Chain raiders arranges to dispose of the imperial shuttles, and compensates
the team for their troubles.
Whilst
on Tatooine the character talk, discovering they all have a common enemy in the
Empire, and decide to try and work together against it...
