the Dark Times session 13 (unlucky for some)

The cast:-

Corran Montari: human assassin (Tony)
Kel Orta: Kel Dor jedi knight (Kev)
Cyrus: human jedi knight (Dave)
Captain Kidd: human pirate (Chris)

Back aboard the Hunter, Vrask debriefs the team. Again Cyrus interrupts and has to be discilplined several times. Given the success of the mission and that he has no immediate need of them he gives the team a week off. He sends Corran off on a recon mission, and asks Cyrus to stay and give him all the information he has about the Blazing Chain pirates. Cyrus gives info as to disposition, bases and contacts for his old pirate gang, and then volunteers information about Kel Orta’s padawan and the other padawans that fled at the end of the war. Vrask thanks him for the info and dismisses him.

Kel Orta and Cpt Kidd spend a few days working on their ship, fitting a concussion missile launcher to it. Cyrus spends his time constructing a lightsaber, and completes it apart from the crystal which he needs to synthesise or acquire. Thinking that Kel Orta will not let him have shore leave, he speaks to the ships fixer the droid EDE, who arranges 48 hour pass for him for a few hundred credits.

Cyrus arrives on Cularin and immediately starts making enquiries about arena/gladiator fighting. After a day, the agent he speaks to is unwilling to pay him top credit price, so he reveals himself to be the infamous wookie killer, the agent gladly agrees to pay him 50,000Cr and tells him to come back in 3 days.

Back aboard the Hunter, the deck officer contacts Kel Orta regarding the whereabouts of Cyrus. Kel Orta is shortly summonsed by Vrask, and told to retrieve Cyrus immediately.

Arriving on the surface, Kel Orta and Cpt Kidd start hitting the street to locate Cyrus. After a day Kidd finds Cyrus whilst Kel Orta learns that the wookie killer is on the bill for a fight the next night. Kidd tries to persuade Cyrus to return to the Hunter but he won’t.

The night of the fight arrives. Quite a crowd assembles at the venue, and old factory in the industrial district. Kel Orta observers from the crowd, and Cpt Kidd puts a bet on Cyrus winning. Cyrus enters the makeshift arena, and in stomp two large loader droids. Droids hover overhead to record and transmit the fight.  Its a hard fight for Cyrus until he calls on the force to lift both droids in the air and slam them together to finish the fight. The racket of the crowd ceases immediately, then they start to run. Over the noise and chaos some of the team can hear sirens as local enforcement officers approach.

Cyrus looks for his agent but he is nowhere to be seen. Cpt Kidd decides it is time to leave the area. Kel Orta receives a message from the Hunter, a force user has been reported in their area, they are to apprehend him and bring him into custody. In the distance the team can see Imperial shuttles landing in the city.

Thinking better of trying to bypass the enforcement officers and Imperials, Kel Orta gives his ID code and the team returns to the Hunter. Vrask questions Kel Orta, asking why Cyrus was using his abilities openly, and how he had gotten off the ship without authorisation. Vrask orders Cyrus to confinement (the floating cell in space), and once he is out of earshot then orders Kel Orta to interrogate then execute Cyrus. The Empire executes force users and given the public display on the planet someone has to pay the price.

As he is being escorted, Cyrus breaks free of his guards, and runs into the depths of the Hunter. He accesses the computer but can only get the escape pods to eject, not being skilled enough or having the time to cause anymore distractions. The alarm is raised that Cyrus has escaped, and Kel Orta doubles back to the hangar bay. As Cyrus enters he sees Kel Orta stood in front of the freighter. Kel Orta gets Cyrsu in a force grip starting to choke him, but Cyrus force slams him to break the grip. Kel Orta comes back at him with his lightsaber. Cyrus force disarms him and slices at him but misses. Kel Orta uses force disarm himself and gets the saber back. Cyrus force slams Kel Orta away, and dashes into the freighter as Cpt Kidd arrives and opens up with his blaster rifle. Cyrus seals the hatch and limps into the cockpit. Kel Orta and Cot Kidd head to the fighters as Cyrus struggles with getting the ship to take off, his lack of training and injuries making it harder to get the thing moving.
Soon enough he lifts off and is out of the bay, only to get caught by the Hunters tractor beams. He redlines the engines but its not enough to break free. The fighters launch and come round on approach to the freighter.

Cyrus tries to lock a concussion missile onto the tractor beam projector, missing with his first shot. His second shot catches one of the projectors, knocking it out. He fires the engines again and eventually breaks free, with 6 fighters in his tail. Kel Orta and Cpt Kidd lead the attack, repeatedly firing on the freighter as Cyrus desperately tries to get away.

The freighter is soon disabled, and drifting in space. The fighters come round for another run and finish it off, it explodes into a ball of flame. Cyrus makes it to the escape pod, in the confusion only Kel Orta picks up the pod on his sensors, Kidd and the other pilots think its a confirmed kill. Kel Orta goes after the pod, blasting it repeatedly until there is nothing left.

the Dark Times, sessions 11 and 12

The cast:-

Corran Montari: human assassin (Tony)
Kel Orta: Kel Dor jedi knight (Kev)
Cyrus: human jedi knight (Dave)
Captain Kidd: human pirate (Chris)

The team arrived on Ryloth and staked out Jazzers club, after staking it out for a while they realised that he was not there. After some discussion Corran set up a observation post to keep a watch on the club whilst the rest of the team kept out of sight. Cyrus quickly got bored of this and headed off to gather information in his own unique way.

After spreading some credits around and visiting several bars and drinking with various space scum, he got very drunk but learned that Jazzer has a house in the country he is probably at. Unfortunately the alcohol gets the better of Cyrus and he collapses, only to wake up hours later to find all his gear and credits are missing.

Returning to the team Cyrus shares his information with them, and the team heads out of town in two speeders to check on Jazzers country house. They park up 5kn away and head in on foot to recon the place.

After checking the place out, the frontal approach is across 200m of open ground, the other 3 sides protected in a small valley, the rear of which is near to the landing pad at the back of the house. On the pad a shuttle sits on standby. Also guards can be seen patrolling inside the house and 2 of them guard the shuttle.

The team decides that Cyrus should assault the front as a distraction, whilst the rest sneak in at the back. Cyrus powers up a speeder and zooms across the open ground firing his blaster. Sadly his rapid approach sets off several grav traps that slam the speeder into the ground. As the distraction starts Kel Orta, Cpt Kidd and Corran sneak down the slope at the back towards the house.

Out front, blaster shots are getting closer to Cyrus and the speeder power plant is starting to smoke and crackle with electricity, Cyrus bails out and starts sprinting towards the house drawing lots of fire. Using the force he is able to shake off the worst effects of the blaster fire, taking only flesh wounds as he closes the distance.

Moving down the slope, Kel Orta and Cpt Kidd are spotted and start taking fire, unfortunately the captain takes a blaster bolt to the chest, putting him out of the fight. Kel Orta charges into the shuttle whilst Corran sneaks into the house, where he meets up with Cyrus. Kel Orta sets the self destruct on the shuttle then heads into the house. Corran and Cyrus keep the guards busy whilst Kel Orta checks for Jazzer, but he is not there, instead they find the comms room and see a holo of Jazzer asking what is going on. They download the holonet data for decryption and leave the area, collecting Cpt Kidds unconscious body along the way, the building explodes as they zoom off into the distance only receiving minor radiation poisoning from the shuttles self destruct.

The team decodes the data, learning that Jazzer is on an ice moon in the Melidaa/Daan system. Calling up the Empire they requisition a destroyer and make good time to the system, on arrival they send probe droids ahead to scout as they approach on silent running from the edge of the system.

The droids report back that they have detected fighters near the moon, and shortly afterwards stop transmitting. Cpt Kidd puts the ship to minimal power and plots a course to avoid the fighters, which sensor analysis show to be Z95’s. The course works well and they are not detected, but passive sensors pick up a armed freighter directly ahead of them, Cpt Kidd plots another course correction before they are detected, unfortunately this makes their approach angle too steep for the landing.

After some skilful piloting, the teams ship skids to a halt on the snow and ice just short of a rockface, 20-30Km away from Jazzers hideout. After some bickering, the team decides to use the ship to approach travel to the hideout as the weather is atrocious outside, and walking would take too long. They ditch the ship 5km away from the hideout and cover the remaining distance on foot. Ahead they can see the hideout on on top of a rocky outcropping, protected by an energy shield which flares randomly as the snow builds up on it causing min avalanches. On foot in cold weather gear they rope together with Kel Orta leading the way and approach the hideout, fighting off a snow panther and getting caught in a small avalanche as they travel.

Reaching the top of the outcropping the team spots the hideout in the middle of a large open area, a few outbuildings scattered around and a central tower that looks inhabited. The team spreads out and sneaks across to the tower, as they do small turrets pop out of the snow and fire blasters at Cyrus and Cpt Kidd. They quickly take out the turrets and the team makes it to the tower. Bypassing the lock the team gets inside and ditches the cold weather gear. Checking out the lower levels first the team encounters a few battle droids as they head toward the power generators 8 levels down.

The team gets to the generators and takes out the droids, shutting down the power and getting a level listing for the tower, Jazzer is on the top floor. Connor takes point as they head back up, getting blasted back down by the grenade trap he had failed to spot. Kel Orta and Cyrus both surge up the stairs, setting off more grenade traps as they go, although these only enrage them. Reaching the entrance level they both take blaster fire from the guards set up in ambush position, Kel Orta deflect some bolts with his lightsaber, but Cyrus takes a few hits but they only make him angrier. Calling on the dark side they both rip through the guards enjoying the slaughter and screams.

The team reach the top floor and find Jazzer frantically calling down the freighter from orbit so he can escape. He offers the team credits and riches. Cyrus empties two blasters on full auto into him, blasting him out of the windopw and onto the snow below.

The team commandeers the freighter coming in to land, and flies back to the Hunter.

the Dark Times, session 10

Given the events of session 9, the group discussed how the campaign should proceed. There were 3 main options:-

1.       Play a dark side campaign, where 2 new characters join Kel Orta and Cyrus.
2.       Play  light side campaign, where 2 new characters join Darjan and Sai Rye.
3.       All 4 players do up new characters and start a totally new story.

By unanimous decision option 1 was chosen, as a group we usually play games more on the good side of things than the bad, so would be interesting to play the other side for a change.

the Dark times, session 10

The cast:-
Corran Montari: Human assassin (Tony)
Kel Orta: Kel Dor jedi knight (Kev)
Cyrus: Human jedi knight (Dave)
Captain Kidd: Human pirate (Chris)

Aboard the Hunter, Vrask explains to Kel Orta how things are going to work. Kel Orta will be in charge of a small team who will perform tasks for Vrask. They will all be well paid. Kel Orta is responsible for disclipline and order amongst the team, if Vrask feels that he is not enforcing things properly he will punish Kel Orta and the miscreant. Also, discretion and a low profile are required in all missions. His standing orders are to capture any force users they come across (kill them if they cannot be captured), and to destroy the enemies of the Empire.

Cyrus is brought to the briefing room. Vrask tells him that Kel Orta is now his master and he must follow his orders. He also informs him that he will not have a lightsaber until he has proven he can be discreet. Cyrus belligerently questions Vrask. Vrask looks to Kel Orta, who uses his force choke to silence Cyrus. Vrask continues with his briefing, the team is to travel to Ryloth and kill Jazzer. Cyrus asks more questions, and again questioning about having a saber, Vrask looks at Kel Orta, who flicks his hand and sends Cyrus slamming out of his chair and into the wall.

Vrask then dismisses Kel Orta and Cyrus, telling them to meet their new teammates in the hangar bay. After meeting up, and gathering gear from the armory and upgrading the assigned YT1300, the team sets off to Ryloth.

A few days later the team touches down on Ryloths secondary spaceport, then travels to the city and stakes out Jazzers cantina till late in the evening to try and find him. Montari sneaks and cases the place, figuring not too many guards but cannot determine if Jazzer is present. Cyrus gets bored of waiting and heads down the street to storm into the cantina and kill Jazzer, disobeying Kel Ortas orders.

Outside the cantina, Cyrus is told to go away by the doormen, as the cantina is closed. Thinking better of it he returns to the team. As moring approaches the team leaves and returns to their ship. The next day they try to come up with a plan, bored with inaction Cyrus heads out to find some entertainment in the bars and brothels. Pretty soon he is drunk and knackered, but manages to make some enquiries and learns that Jazzer is at his ‘country retreat’ some 200km to the north. Not long after he is recognised as the famous ‘wookie killer’ and attracts quite a crowd, many more drinks are consumed and he eventually passes out... he comes to in a back alley only to find his cred chip and most of his possessions are missing

The rest of the team rests in the ship, until Cyrus rolls in and shares his information. The team tries to put together a plan to visit Jazzer...

the Dark times, session 9
The cast:-
Darjan: Human force adept (Tony)
Kel Orta: Kel Dor jedi knight (Kev)
Cyrus: human jedi knight (Dave)
Sai Rye: human soldier (Chris)
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away
Cyrus, Darjan, Kel Orta and Sai Rye each awakes to find themselves floating in small metal cubes, through the limited viewports they can see the Relentess.
Sai Rye is brought over first. He meets Inquisitor Vrask, who offers him 500,000 Cr to work for the Empire, but he refuses and is sent back to his cube.
Darjan is brought over, Vrask offers him 1,000,000 Cr to work for the Empire, as well as whatever else he might want. Vrask simply states that if he won’t take the money other means will be used to ‘persuade’ him. Darjan refuses and is sent back to his cube.
Cyrus is brought over, shackled and with a blindfold on, Vrask offers him 1,000,000 Cr to work for the Empire, as well as whatever else he might want. Cyrus says he will need time to consider the offer, and is sent back to his cube.
Kel Orta is brought over, he accepts Vrask’s offer. I order to prove his loyalty Vrask asks him to kill some prisoners from the planet. 30 unarmed men, women and children are brought out, and Vrask hands Kel Orta his lightsaber...
The screaming does not last long. In the cubes, Cyrus and Darjan feel Kel Orta’s soul darken as he embraces the dark side.
Vrask asks Kel Orta which of his associates is likely to turn next, and Cyrus is brought over. Vrask again makes his offer to Cyrus, this time he accepts. In order to prove his loyalty Vrask asks him to order an Imperial ship to destroy a freighter carrying medical supplies. He gives the order and goes on to order the ship to fire all weapons at the surface of the planet.
In his cube, Darjan feels more torment in the force as Cyrus abandons the light side.
Sai Rye is brought over. He still refuses to work for the Empire. A trooper injects him with something. Vrask explains that it is Synox, a poison that kills its victims slowly. The antidote injector is given to Kel Orta so he can keep him in line.
Darjan is brought over, but again refuses to join the dark side. He is led away to receive some ‘persuasion’. As he gets away from Vrask and the others he force slams the troopers, and runs and hides in the air ducts of the old ship.
Sai Rye is locked in a cell whilst Vrask orders Kel Orta and Cyrus to deal with Darjan. The ship is put on lockdown, Kel Orta heads to the bridge and Cyrus to engineering, the most obvious places that Darjan will head to. They order the clone troopers to search the ship and locate Darjan. The clones put mouse droids into the ducts to try and locate him.
As Darjan sneaks through the ducts, he looks down through a grille and sees Sai Rye in a cell. Freeing him, they both head deeper into the ducts and try to avoid the droids.
Sai Rye comes up with a plan, they stun a mouse droid and he hacks it to give a false location for them. This distracts Kel Orta and Cyrus long enough to allow them to activate the emergency bridge separation detonators and create a system overload to prevent the tractor beam working. As the bridge section separates with Kel Orta, Cyrus and Vrask on it, Darjan and Sai Rye escape on a freighter in the confusion...

On board the Hunter in orbit, Sai Rye and Kel Orta are interrogated by Lt Bardak, as she tries to get information about Darjan and Cyrus.
Hiding in the wreckage, Cyrus and Darjan hear fighters flying overhead, then the wreckage is rocked as the fighters drop bombs on it to try and drive them out.
Between offers of credits and threats of imprisonment, Lt Bardak persuades Kel Orta and Sai Rye to assist with the capture of the 2 jedi on the surface.

Searching in the wreck, Cyrus and Darjan find a couple of speederbikes and wait till nightfall before trying to make a break for it.

the Dark times, session 7

The cast:-

Darjan: Human force adept (Tony)
Kel Orta: Kel Dor jedi knight (Kev)
Cyrus: human jedi knight (Dave)
Sai Rye: human soldier (Chris)

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away

After activating they hyperdrive in the upper atmosphere of Ryloth, Kel Orta & Sai Rye realise it is running hotter and faster than normal, and will probably fail before they get to Siskeen. They manage a controlled reversion to realspace and effect temporary repairs before getting underway again. Luckily the Ravager arrives on Siskeen ahead of schedule.

On approach for landing it can be seen that Siskeen is still recovering from the clone wars, with ruined cities and wrecks of capital ships visible scattered over the surface. The Ravager puts down in a spaceport, and a customs inspector and 6 clone troopers arrive. They conduct a cursory inspection before leaving, saying they will send a repair crew to assist them. As they leave Kel Orta thinks the inspector was a bit nervous...

A repair droid and R2 team arrive shortly and start assessing the cost to fix the Ravager. Tark’o and his family ask to leave, and say they will give the team whatever funds they can spare. The repairteam droid breaks the bad news to Kel Orta , it will cost 20,000Cr to repair the hyperdrive, or they can get a new one fitted for 30,000Cr, also repairs to the hull will cost 20,000Cr and take 2 weeks. In discussion the team realises it would be better to sell the Ravager and get a new ship. Tark’o returns and gives the team 5,000Cr, and also says he will have a warm welcome for them if they ever return to Siskeen.

After asking around the team settle on buying a used YT1300 for 20,000Cr, and being unable to find a buyer for the Ravager decide to move the Ravager to an adjoining dock and strip the computer, shields and sensor systems out of it to fit on the YT1300 later on, and sell the stripped Ravager for 5,000Cr.

After 3 days the team has nearly finished stripping parts out of the Ravager. Kel Orta and Cyrus are moving trolleys of parts from one bay to the other. Kel Orta hears the sound of troopers approaching, turns and puts his hands up in surrender and sees 2 squads of 6 clone troopers led by an inspector, telling him to drop weapons and surrender. Oblivious as always Cyrus is caught by surprise by 2 squads of troopers, he pauses as the anger flares inside him.

Darjan and Sai Rye are running diagnostics on the YT1300, Darjan gets a sensor ping from high orbit, the Hunter has arrived. He shouts a warning to Sai Rye, and as they look out of the ship see Kel Orta being held at blaster point. Sai rye heads down the entry ramp to see what is going on, whilst Darjan heads up to the top hatch in case he needs to flee.

Kel Orta tries to ask what the troopers want, but half of them order him against the wall as the other half point guns at Sai Rye. In the other dock, Cyrus unleashes his anger, shrugging off the stun bolts the troopers fire at him, cutting them down with his lightsabres.

From the top of the YT1300, Darjan sees Sai Rye and Kel Orta agains the wall, and hears the screams of troopers from the adjoining dock. The troopers stun Sai Rye and Kel Orta. Cyrus vents his anger and frustration on the clone troopers, cutting swathes through them in his dark rage, as more and more of them converge on his position. Darjan flees from the dock and head out towards the ruins of ships away from the dock. As Cyrus hacks down troopers he sees high above him more landing craft approaching, and decides to take the fight to the enemy. He storms a landing craft and sets off towards the Hunter in low orbit.

The comm system crackles on in the landing craft but Cyrus ignores it. Soon blaster bolts are bouncing off the hull of the lander but he holds it together through his sheer anger, the attacking fighters peel off as he gets closer to the Hunter. After a moments quietness the sky is filled with turbolaser blasts that soon find the mark. As the lander explodes Cyrus ejects in an escape pod.

As the escape pod slams into the ground, Cyrus’s rage fades, he climbs out V-wing fighters screech overhead, he heads towards ruins in the distance....

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away

The team are still on Ryloth, and head out to the town find Tark’o, the Twi’Lek that Jazzer wants them to kill painfully and publcly. On the way they come up with a plan to replace Tark’o with Kel Orta, who will use an alchemical potion given to the team by Barin to change his appearance to match the Twi’Lek.

Arriving at the town, they scout out the town square where the meeting will be held, getting a good idea of the layout and seeing it can hold over 1000 people. After making some discreet enquiries they track down Tark’o who is hiding in a town house, accessed via the sewer system. It takes some doing but they manage to persuade Tark’o and his family to leave town whilst they take his place, agreeing to pick them up when everything calms down and get them off planet.

Having the house to themselves, Kel Orta takes the potion and meditates, focussing on the shape of Tark’o. The process is agonising as the dark chemicals reshape his body but he holds his concentration and controls the change, after a few hours he has taken on the appearance of the Twi’Lek, and he feels he has taken another step into darkness. The team rests for the night and most of the next morning,

The team sets off to the town square before the meeting, Kel Orta keeping a hooded cloak tight to himself so no-one recognises him. A large crowd is packed into the square, the team spots local enforcement officers on the 4 main entry roads to the square, as well as a figures with rifles up on the rooftops surrounding the square.

At 2pm Kel Orta gets on to the platform to start rallying the crowd, and Darjan reaches out with the force to start choking him, as Sai Rye and Cyrus cover him in case anyone realises what is happening. Kel Orta is lifted off his feet and starts gasping for air, the crowd starts to panic and chaos spreads. Darjan maintains the choke as the crowd jostles him and the others. Kel Orta starts to pass out.
The snipers on the roof can see ‘Tark’O’ choking out and want to make the kill more painful and public so open up with blaster bolts, catching him with a couple. Darjan leaps onto the platform to grab Kel’Orta and stop him being shot, as he does blaster bolts strike him and Kel Orta but they manage to leap back into the crowd, trying to use them as cover. All the blaster shots cause the crowd to panic even more, people are crushed as well as trampled, the crowd takes blaster hits as the team uses the crowd for cover. As the team mix further into the crowd the sniper fire stops, and after a few minutes the team exits the square via a side building and leaves town in their speeder.

The team returns to Jazzer, he is not pleased, the job could hardly be called a success, without a definite kill the anti slave movement on Ryloth will continue. He tells the team to come back in a month if they want more work, then leaves the cantina clearly fed up with them.

Returning to the Ravager, Kel Orta meditates on the holocron which he had left there for safekeeping. He learns that the change will last until he masters the dark alchemy to change himself (or until he can find another vial of the chemicals). In the quiet of the ship Cyrus and Darjan realise they did nothing to help anyone in the crowd, and feel the touch of darkness upon themselves.

Once things quiet down, the team flies out into the desert and picks up Tark’o and his family, them makes for orbit so they can jump to Siskeen, which is on the way to their next mission on Hypori. As they head skywards the flight lanes are quite clear, and then on sensors they pick up a large Imperial vessel. The comm system crackles to life ‘This is the Imperial vessel Hunter, shut down engines and prepare to be brought aboard’, needless to say Kel Orta opens the throttle wide to try and outrun them, opening up a slight lead. Another message from the Hunter, this time warning they will open fire. Kel Orta holds course as the team powers up weapons and shields. As the Hunter is ahead of them blocking their escape to safe jump distance Kel Orta tries veer away but the Hunter keeps on an intercept course, opening up with its turbolasers. The hunter gets a lucky shot with its turbolasers (natural 20!), inflicting massive damage on the Ravager, as it warning lights flicker and alarms sound, they realise another hit like that and they are done for.

Sai Rye presses the jump button.......

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away

On Nar Shadaa, in pursuit of Barin for Black Sun, the team looks up an old contact – Rika the Hutt. Rika is unavailable but his no.2 Vara takes the call and hooks them up with a slicer droid R2-FU. The team learns that Arvo the Hutt is a rival of the current owner of the Kessel club, and that Rika would be appreciative if something were to happen to the Kessel club.

The team sneaks round the side of the club, and R2-FU slices into some of the club camera feeds. They don’t spot Barin but pick up in a cloaked figure in a dark corner who has people coming and going. After a quick mind trick the team confirm that the cloaked figure is Barin.

Darjan and Sai Rye head in whilst Kel Orta & Cyrus stay outside as backup. In the club Darjan and Sai Rye get a table near Barin. Darjan uses the force to get a read on Barin, who immediately realises what he is doing and locks eyes with him, before asking the 2 of them to join him at his table. As they approach they see Barins face change back to human. After some chat, Cyrus and Kel Orta join them at the table.

Barin explains that the crystal he stole from Black Sun is a holocron, and he suggests that he can give the team a lot of money if they let him go, as well as potentially training them with the information he has gained from the holocron, and he gets Darjans commlink frequency.  As they are talking, only Kel Orta notices a group of 4 bounty hunters approaching with blasters drawn.

The hunters disregard Barin, ordering the team to leave their weapons on the table and come quietly. Looking up, Darjan uses the force to bring down a light fitting on 2 of the hunters, as he does so Cyrus flares with anger, and looses a vicious force slam killing all 4 of the hunters. In the chaos the team flees, Cyrus slowly feeling the anger subside within him. Looking back as they leave, there is no sign of Barin.

The team head to a quiet cantina to consider their options. The holocron is a tempting prize, immensely useful to them as they no longer have jedi masters to learn from. It could also be useful for any other force users. But letting Barin go would have Black Sun on their tail. In the end they decide to try and apprehend Barin, sticking with Black Sun. Checking in with Vara, they get 10,000Cr for causing a mess at Arvo’s club.

Hatching a cunning plan, they move the Ravager to another landing platform and install a cryo chamber and obtain some wookie tranquiliser, so they can keep Barin unconscious once they capture him. As the team is installing the chamber, Kel Orta heads into the slum are to try and locate Barin. After spending most of the day searching, Kel Orta finds Barin, and they sit down to talk. Barin explains he is glad Kel Orta found him, as he has been looking for an apprentice, to help him cleanse the galaxy with purifying flames.  Kel Orta is unsure what to say. Barin slides the holocron over to him ‘a gesture of good faith, you will find me if you wish to take up my offer’ and them leaves.

Kel Orta returns to the Ravager, updating the team on what he has learnt, and then retires to meditate on the holocron. It glows as he focuses on it, then slowly the image of a dark cloaked figure projects from the holocron.....

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

After arriving on Ryloth, the team has hooked up with Jazzer, a member of Black Sun. He has taken them on as members of the organisation, and pointed out the commitments they have made, which basically can be summed up as loyalty for life (which goes both ways, Black Sun will provide all their needs as long they stay loyal).

Jazzer explains the job to them. He wants a human called Barin, brought back to him alive. Barin is believed to be in Hutt space, he will pay them 75,000Cr if they can do the job in 2 months (60 days), with a 25,000Cr bonus if they can do the job in 1 month. He also gives the team a cred chip to keep their ship fuelled as they travel.

In order to pick up leads on Barin, the team travels to a shadowport on the edge of Hutt space, a shadowport they have visited before...

After docking they head to the cantina to try and pick up info about Barin. Kel Orta & Sai Rye pick up info suggesting Barin could be on Nyrvona or Saki. Cyrus has a bit less luck, although at the bar he is recognised by some of the patrons, who remember him from when he defeated a wookie in single combat in the slave arena to earn some credits.

Cyrus becomes very popular as he buys drinks for everyone and enjoys the adulation of the cantina patrons, a crowd flocks in to see and speak to the only human to have defeated a wookie bare handed. Sai Rye notices that some of the shifty looking patrons leave the bar. Having got the information he wants Kel Orta leaves the bar.

After a few hours and drinks the excitement subsides and Cyrus leaves the bar to head back to the ship, Sai Rye follows discreetly as he is suspicious.

As they walk through the station, Sai Rye spots a group of 3 wookies taking an interest in Cyrus, who is as usual oblivious to the whole situation. Suddenly Cyrus spots the door ahead of him seal shut, as he turns he sees a large wookie, and at the other end the corridor is sealed by the other 2 wookies.

The wookie snarled at Cyrus, who is too shocked to say anything. The wookie strikes with precision and technique, wounding Cyrus, who is unable to make any significant strikes against the wookie. Wounded again, Cyrus draws his lightsaber but this does not deter the wookie who tries to grapple him, and when this fails continues to pummel Cyrus.

Sai Rye, having heard the commotion hacks the local computer system to override the door lock, but Cyrus is too pre-occupied to see it. Kel Orta feels a disturbance in the force, and warms up the ships engines.

In desperation Cyrus uses the force to slam the wookie to the ground, and surges out through the door diving past the other two wookies and sprinting back to the ship....

A short hyperjump later, the Ravager arrives in the Nyrvona system. Landing on the surface the team bribes port control for information about Barin, and discover that he was arrested their about a month ago, but managed to escape. Sai Rye notice on the news feed that there is an upcoming pay per view fight of 'jedi vs wookie' on the galaxy sports net. They also learn the Barin is a Devaronian.

Arriving in the Saki system, the Ravager is attacked by 3 fighters (uglies, cobbled together from parts of various scrapped fighters).  After some fancy flying and accurate shooting 2 of the fighters are driven off and the third pilot ejects. The pilot is brought on board and questioned, he was hired by a Bith called Barin, and he is to meet Barin on Nar Shadaa in the Kessel club to receive payment.

Arriving on Nar Shadaa, the team leaves the ship on one of the higher level landing pads, and heads down into the sprawl to the Kessel club, as they travel they spot more and more signs for the upcoming transmission of 'the fight of the century, wookie vs jedi'....

Starlight class light freighter, the Bantha

Starlight-class light freighter

The Starlight-class was designed in the shape of a flying wing, measuring thirty-four meters in length. The cockpit was located at one end of the curved wing, with a turret-mounted blaster cannon mounted on the opposite end. The vessel could carry up to four passengers (not including the one pilot for the crew), and fifty metric tons of cargo. Its interior was very rugged with limited living space.

Gymsnor-3, the Beowulf

Riff-Raff-GG6

The Gymsnor-3 light freighter was a long, segmented craft capable of transporting 95 tons of cargo. This light freighter was armed with a turret-mounted laser cannon which gave it better protection against pirate attacks than the old blaster cannons in the Gymsnor-2 light freighter, its precursor. In addition, the ship's entire forward cockpit module could be detached as an escape pod. CorelliSpace designed this freighter to compete with the YT series produced by Corellian Engineering Corporation, but these aspirations failed. The Gymsnor-3 was very rare outside Corellian space.

The Helix-class light freighter was an armed freighter manufactured by Arakyd Industries that could easily be considered the equal of many starfighters. A second generation was also produced, the "Model B."

The original model of the freighter had a Class 1 Incom Corporation GBp-625 hyperdrive, whereas the Model B came with a Class 2 GBp-629 hyperdrive.

Both variants of the craft had a LBE flight control computer, 4 H-L Block ion drives, a Class 12 backup hyperdrive, 80 fuel cells, and an atmospheric capability of over 1050 kilometers per hour along with great maneuverability.

A duranium-kathor composite hull was protected by shields. The craft boasted a Plasburst laser cannon belly turret, and 1 forward dorsal concussion missile launcher that carried 5 missiles.
